Canon IXUS 750

Canon IXUS 750 “With its sleek Perpetual Curve design, the contoured all-metal body of the Digital IXUS 750 represents the pinnacle of Canon design excellence” says Canon’s official website about the new Digital IXUS 750. I’m afraid I have no idea at all what a “Perceptual Curve” might be, but if it means that the 750 is a very pretty camera, then I guess Canon’s right.
Canon’s long-running IXUS range of film and digital cameras has always been designed with an eye for style rather than complexity. While superbly well made and capable of producing excellent photographs, they have usually been extremely simple to operate. Some people might say they’re designed to appeal to women, but that would be gratuitously sexist and very, very wrong, so of course I would never say such a thing. Please don’t hurt me.

Fuji FinePix Z2

It is almost as important as your wallet for a night out. The Fuji FinePix Z2 Zoom is a super-slim compact digital camera with 5.1 million pixels, 3x optical zoom and a mammoth 2.5 inch LCD monitor. But where it cruises ahead of the competition is its low light ability with a sensitivity of ISO 1600, the Z2 Zoom is four times as effective in low-light situations as comparable ISO 400 cameras in its class. And as if that were not enough, the 640 x 480 resolution movie mode at a full 30 frames per second is a truly remarkable achievement for such a small device.

The FinePix Z2 Zoom showcases a variety of Fujifilm's inventive construction techniques that help the camera achieve its sleek casing and miniature dimensions. The zoom lens has a special refractive, non-extending design that delivers 3x optical reach without any visible movement on the Z2 Zoom's flat exterior.

Fuji Finepix S9500

Ever since I got the Fuji Finepix S9500 Zoom camera I take it everywhere with me. It doubles as a great camcorder too, so lightens the load on most trips.

What made me choose this camera was the manual twist barrel 10.7x optical zoom. I never liked the push button zooms you get on most cameras as these take too long to compose a shot - and they are not very precise either.

The Fuji Finepix S9500 allows you to compose a shot so fast you get the shot you are after. Only yesterday I was out with the camera on a 9.5 mile walk along a river, with the camera round my neck. The camera was off when I scared a moorhen out of cover from some reeds, and it half flew, half ran across the river. I brought up the camera, switched it on, and zoomed in to compose the shot in such a quick and swift movement I managed to get a shot of the moorhen skimming across the water with the ripples from each footstep in its wake. The cameras wake-up time is so quick!!

Canon PowerShot S2 IS

The Canon PowerShot S2 IS picks up where the PowerShot S1 IS left off. The S1 brought Canon into the ultra zoom race for compact cameras, demonstrating that Canon was capable of transferring both their DV technology and advanced lens construction into consumer-level digital cameras. The S2 furthers the effort and provides some useful upgrades.

The Canon Powershot S2 IS, quite a mouth full, is the successor of the S1. The Powershot S2 IS was officially introduced in April of this year and is available for some months now. The Canon S2 IS camera features an impressive optical zoom of 12x combined with an almost indispensable image stabilisation. When used to working with this function, you don't want to do without it anymore. The specifications of the Canon Powershot S2 IS are impressive; 5 Megapixels, 12x zoom with optical image stabilisation, high video clip resolution and the already rather famous DIGIC II processor.

Nikon Coolpix P1

Nikon Coolpix P1 Wireless review : During the IFA event 2005 in Berlin I attended the press conference of Nikon Europe. In this conference Nikon introduced their first series of digital cameras with built-in Wi-Fi functionality. Nikon were not the first to announce a camera with Wi-Fi availability, but they were definitely the very first to deliver a camera with this function built-in the camera unlike Kodak did with the EasyShare-One; using a memory card with Wi-Fi functions. Nikon has obtained a lot of experience in the professional segment and by introducing the Nikon Coolpix P1 and P2 with built-in Wi-Fi functionality they take the first steps in the consumer market.

Nikon P1 review
We already had one of the first pre-production samples in the house, but were not able to come to an end-conclusion due to its status. After receiving a full production sample, we tried out the Nikon Coolpix P1 in practice and besides its photographic quality; we tested the possibilities of Wi-Fi. Our experiences can be read in the following Nikon Coolpix P1 digital camera review.

Fuji FinePix F11

The Photography Blog have written a summary for the Fujifilm FinePix F11, here’s a little from that overview: The Fujifilm Finepix F11 is a 6 megapixel digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens and 2.5 inch LCD screen. Nothing extraordinary there, but look under the hood and the Fujifilm FinePix F11 is suddenly a serious contender for the crown of “photographer’s pocket camera”. The Fujifilm Finepix F11 is the successor to the F10, which was voted European Pocket Camera of the Year 2005/6 thanks mainly to its amazing and completely useable ISO range of 80-1600.
Pocket Lint have written an in depth review for the Fujifilm Finepix F11 camera, here’s a excerpt from the review: The Fujifilm Finepix F11 steps into the company’s line-up alongside the F10, its predecessor. The Fujifilm Finepix F11 addresses a few elements of the Fujifilm Finepix F10 that were not exactly problems, more just missing, such as manual shooting control for example. So, the camera boasts more or less the same design and control layout of the Fujifilm Finepix F10 but with a smorgasbord of options and a new control switch that surrounds the shutter release on the top plate. It gives you the entrée to the new camera’s manual control options. These “options” include aperture and shutter priority, manual control of white balance, exposure compensation, ISO, and the like.

Fuji Fujifilm FinePix S5600

The Fuji FinePix S5600 measures 113.5 x 85 x 112mm and weighs 470g--relatively compact and lightweight for a digital camera of its kind. You'll look a convincing semi-professional without having the feeling of lugging a brick around.

Being the third incarnation of its S-series, the 5.1 megapixel Fuji FinePix S5600 boasts a 10x optical zoom and anti-blur mode that the camera maker claims is more effective than using image stabilization alone.
